If you've been following me for a while now, it is not a secret that I am passionate about my dental health. One of my goals has been to not only have a straight smile (thanks Smile Direct Club) but to also reach a pearly white smile like the celebrities. Previously you've seen me use whitening toothpastes and the oh so famous, charcoal powder, which helped me get started on my journey but sadly it didn't gave me the results I was looking for. I definitely did not enjoy the mess it left behind everyday (If you've used charcoal powder before, you know what I am talking about).
I am in my early twenties, so let's be honest caffeine is a must and has to be in my system everyday for me to be able to function... so coffee, cokes and tea (and wine of course) are part of my everyday diet and are the reason why I can't achieve a pearly white smile. I've tried numerous products at the drug store, such as toothpastes and whitening strips, but must of them don't protect against future staining and don't cover all of my teeth. Because of this, I am continuously left back where I began and several dollars lighter in my bank account.
I guess you could ask, "Why not just stop consuming foods/drinks that could stain your teeth for a while?!" I've tried, believe me, but it's so hard to keep up with. It’s especially hard if: 1. You are up and running all the time, 2. You are Mexican and 3. Let's be honest, all foods can stain your teeth. That is why I'm so happy that Smile Brilliant found me. Yes, you heard it right, most recommended and you get your very own custom-fitted trays for your process which you are able to print right in the comfort of your HOME. I don't know about you, but I am all in when it comes to skipping a visit to the dentist. For some reason, every time I think of it my mind goes back to the Finding Nemo scene. It’s not a place I want to be, lol.
Impressions
The package comes with all you need for your brand new smile: 2 trays and 3 sets of putty for your impressions (1 more in case you mess up), and 4 sets of whitening and desensitizing gel.
All with their respective guides on how to use them.
Getting your impressions done doesn't take you more than 10 mins. I've had experience creating at-home teeth impressions before due to my process with Smile Direct Club which it's pretty much similar to it. You take both of the putties and mix them together until you don't see any lines and then you go ahead and put them in the tray. Make sure you do this quite fast as the longer you take in mixing, the harder the putty gets and you won't be able to make a good impression. This process usually takes 1 minute. Once your tray is ready to go, insert the tray in your mouth only pressing your fingers against your teeth, do not bite your trays. Make sure you leave them there until the putty hardens that way you do not create new dimensions on your impressions. This usually takes 3 to 4 minutes. After that, take your trays out and you will see your teeth printed.
Once you get both, your bottom and your upper teeth impressions done, you'll need to send them back to the Smile Brilliant team so they can create your custom-fitted trays that you will be using throughout your whitening process. This process usually takes them between one to two weeks. Super fast!
Whitening Process
Once your trays have arrived you are ready to start using the magic of Smile Brilliant, here is a quick video on how I got my celebrity smile in less than a month.
I made Smile Brilliant part of my night routine, I would usually do it while showering (I can easily spend 30 to 45 min. showering), or while I took my makeup off. I would wait for it to be done while watching Netflix ("Netflix and Chill") before going to bed. Super easy and it only took me a couple of minutes (or episodes). I would recommend you to use the treatment at night as this will give your teeth more time to recover if you are experiencing some sensitivity (which is normal) and of course the desensitizing gel will finish protecting your teeth against future stains. A.K.A Ready for morning coffee!
Smile Brilliant mentions that you are able to get three treatments in each syringe, but honestly I was able to use one syringe for a whole week, meaning that I was able to get 7 treatments per week as you are only supposed to use the kit only once a day for 45 mins to 3 hrs depending on sensitivity. Here are my results after using the product only for one week 1 hour a day. Amazing isn't?
Final Comments
After using so many different methods for teeth whitening, I can honestly say that Smile Brilliant is the best at-home whitening system that there is. If you are like me and have tried everything, do not give up to the expensive treatments from dentists that can reach over $500 per treatment, and also stop shopping and throwing your money away for the next find at the drug store.
